I am wondering what this may be.there is a layer of unevenly spread metal from the inside of Rim all around the obverse and reverse. It looks like it but it is not Glue!
The coin also has a mushy strike with flat devices as well.I know it is not a biggie but I think it would be educational and a new learning.

Looks like the metal was pushed down by something. Maybe another cent was on the rim and took a hit and that made the metal go down into the field of the coin? My opinion

I would guess it is the beginnings of a Dryer Coin.

You can see how the other devices look battered and flattened out. The edge has started to roll over the surface of the coin.

Sometimes grease collects on coin on that area. Just try a toothpick on a little area. You should be able to move it a bit.

It is for sure plating copper,at first I did think about being glue or grease/dirt but it isn't,it was not an easy job to get the images from those areas but 2nd and 3rd Pic. show it better than other pics.the metal has started to cover top of the device in TRUST and TES OF AMERICA

Once I read the cwb's reply it was like, because when I was looking at it under the microscope The edge has indeed started to roll over the surface of the coin.

Chase, I have noticed that effect on certain coins, a over the rim folded look, I posted pix a while back and no one could answer, most said " Encased Cent" but on a 1991D zinkin? I'll look for those pix, I do think it is similar to a Dryer Coin in that a tumbling/turning mechanical motion was applied. I had surmised it may be the "treadmill" coin counter, getting hung up somehow. If I find the pix, I'll add them.

Found them, first one has the rim folding over, second shows the rim fold-over completely gone, the diagram was my Idea of a possibility.

Crazyb0,

I would definitely like to see your images, and yet again I am not 100% convinced about it being a * pre dryer coin*,although cwb described it perfectly, because of the manner in which the metal is rolling over the surface from the Rim just seems logical not to be that considering the Rim itself and the Edge are fully intact and not shrunk or disturbed
