Series 2013 $20 Note MH 05231945 A (May 23, 1945)
In History: May 23, 1945- World War II: Heinrich Himmler, head of the Schutzstaffel, commits suicide while in Allied custody.
May 23, 1945- World War II: The Flensburg Government under Reichspräsident Karl Dönitz is dissolved when its members are captured and arrested by British forces.
Himmler was a pretty big deal in WWII, real jerk that guy.
Thoughts on the bill?

It's neat, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.

 Good history. Himmler was such a total waste of something called human, that my first thought was to burn that note. I really would. But please don't think I'm belittling your find. You did great work to research what you've found. I just detest the continued memory of such demons. I know it reminds us, but we already have enough of those types of reminders almost every day.

Birthday notes are a contrived and silly subject.

 I do find birthday notes interesting, albeit worth face value.

 , cool find and good research. You might be able to get a few bucks from the right person on ebay, but unless you really like it, I would call it a spender.

 and apologies for what I'm about to say...I don't mean to scare you off or insult, please just take it as is meant... advice. Ask yourself if you yourself would pay a premium for a "Heinrich Himmler suicide dated (sort of) note", keeping in mind that there are lots of pieces of paper money out there that have those digits on them. And that there are many ways to represent a date. And that none of those notes has anything to do with the actual historical moment. Nor were they even printed on the day he offed himself. You'd be far better with a Deutschmark with that SN/"date". You'd like to sell said note for a profit, and who wouldn't? NOW... IF the note were in his wallet when Himmler died, you might have something. Or if you wanted to present something nice to your father who was born on that date (pretty cool if you ask me). I don't mean to be a downer but Coinfrog is right... "date" notes are contrivances and nothing more. Don't believe us, that's fine. Believe the market (and that means SOLD listings on ebay, not notes for sale...) Hope you come back and good luck.

I may be new here, but I'm pretty sure if a 2013 US Bank Note was in Himmler's pocket in 1945 and I just found it - I'm gonna be the richest man on this forum #128518;
Jokes aside, I was simply asking for thoughts on the bill, not how to sell or if it was worth anything. I had just never found a date bill before.
Thanks to all for the responses.
Edit: grammar

I tried to find someone "famous" who was born on that date but, couldn't find anyone readily recognizable. I think the "birthday" notes appeal to people like me who are always scanning numbers they see to find a deeper significance of sorts or, just interesting patterns. I do it with odometer readings, checkout totals (especially with tax) and even CCF members' post counts. I do it with letters, too. My wife's name is Tiffany and she got new, randomly selected license plates several years ago that ended with "TFN". Of course, it means nothing but, it was certainly interesting to me.

I do that with numbers and letters as well! And if I see a word or name (usernames often) that are odd, I read them backwards to see if they were purposely reversed. Crazy.

Quote: I read them backwards to see if they were purposely reversed. Crazy. I used to play with writing upside-down, backwards (mirrored or not) and upside down & backwards. I had a supremely boring college class where I started writing notes in mirror images (da Vinci style). I got pretty good at writing mirrored from right to left. Print and cursive. But, I have always toyed with my writing style. I would stretch letters vertically and horizontally to extremes to make what ended up being mostly illegible writing (to others). I consciously chose the way I would write a letter or number and have gone through phases with those. I created my current signature when I was probably in middle or elementary school and it was an intentional creation. Most recently, I have decided to develop a slight left-lean to my writing even though I'm right handed. From what little I've read, that means that I'm a liar.

Yes, yes, and yes. Growing up I never had the same handwriting for more than 6 months or so sometimes it was cursive sometimes print sometimes all caps sometimes cursive with an extreme lean. I started working on my signature in my early twenties and developed it to where it's at now intentionally. I still, as an adult in my 30s, switch from print to cursive to all caps. Also I can never keep the same facial hair for more than a couple weeks... I feel like those are related somehow. LOL

Sorry, this is getting a little strange: Quote: Also I can never keep the same facial hair for more than a couple weeks... I feel like those are related somehow. LOL I do that as well. Mainly because I hate shaving and I will let it grow until something just has to be done and I trim it all off leaving just a bit until the next time. I used to shave the "stache" but keep the beard. I don't do that anymore and let it all grow together. That's probably just being lazy, though. I do switch between print and cursive but, I never write in all CAPS. Related, it really bothers me when people mix lower and upper case letters together in words (randomly). I'm also in my thirties. Maybe that could explain some of the similarities? Not to mention we are both members of a coin/currency forum.
