Incredibly hard to find note from New Castle note I came across today. From Heritage in 2010: This note comes from one of the smallest towns serving as a county seat in any county in the country, as the population of this tiny (just 0.2 square miles) community was 179 at the time of the 2000 census. We note no offerings of any kind from New Castle since 2004. And the 2004 auction: An exceptionally scarce bank which has had only four offerings in the past sixty years. This is another bank which was missing entirely from the Hough holdings. Fine, a new town for some fortunate collector this evening. Edited by WheatBack 12/02/2017 9:45 pm

Really nice find. My parents lived in that little town for a few years in the early 1980s.

Was this cut with a manual paper cutter?

Thanks all. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I was just talking to someone about a New Castle note just yesterday. The guy had tons of other rare Virginia national stuff, but I was maxed out after this one.
@otto
These were manually cut and they were sometimes cut very sloppily.

The TPGs don't discount a poorly-cut note as much as you might think. I saw one in a PCGS 64PPQ holder the other day where a good 1/8" chunk of the following note appeared at the bottom (and was of course missing from the top of the subject note).

Also interesting to have the printing plate number so complete on the reverse and ever so partial on the front. These are generally trimmed off in the normal separation process.
