1936 Buffalo Nickel Odd Raised Lines Above And Below Date

It looks like the die had grooves cut in it above and below the date. the lines are visible before the 1 and between the 3 and 6

@ODBN, are those "lines" raised or sunk below the face of the coin? If they were scratches in the die, then they should be sticking up above the field. If they are PMD, then they would most likely be below the field.
