Not sure if I described that properly :]
Strange markings on this Nickle. I was wondering what you guys think. Can errors happen like this in the minting process? Couldn't find any similar errors on google. I'd appreciate any info Thanks.

Someone pressed/stamped on the obverse, which caused part of the reverse to flatten. Just PMD

By the way, a US 5 cent coin is spelled n-i-c-k-E-L

Post mint damage ( PMD). The images counter struck on the obverse of the coin have flattened details on the reverse.

@pkzac, that is an interesting punch that someone has applied to your coin after it left the mint. It is only worth five cents, but looks unusual enough that I'd probably save it rather than spend it.

I can understand why you would ask, but it's just damage.

Does look a little bit like his avatar, but I'm pretty sure that this nickel came from Burning Man.

I agree!

Interesting counterstamp regardless of the source.
