Look at my sales. I'm selling LWCs worth maybe $.80. How much am I making, $.70 maybe, after fees and First class letter, cheapest way possible. Now I take the risk of no tracking, blah, blah, blah, but for the item to even begin to move, have to. A 200% profit is good to me, sold stuff my whole life like that, meaning double what I paid, in coins its tougher, lousy crowds. I figure 13% in overall fees on each item plus my mailing at .49. Not very lucrative is it? But its either that or sit on this forever, ain't gonna live THAT long!

Basic ebay fees will be 9% IIRC.
Paypal takes 3% plus .30.
Shipping depends on what coin your are sending.
For inexpensive coins, many sellers will put them in a standard envelope with cardboard or some other padding. You could put a regular stamp on it, but really should pay the non-machinable price (.70 last I checked)
I should add that paypal and ebay both take off the entire sale amount, not after each other.
So a $10 sale would pay .90 to ebay and .60 to paypal.
If you have a store, you can get reduced fees, and top rated sellers can get further discounts.

Rough rule of thumb After you sell a coin they will pay using paypal. Paypal will credit your account with 97% of the amount (I think they do have a 30 cent minimum) then at the end of the month ebay will charge you 10% of the selling price. So on a $2 coin you will get $1.50 (Paypal 30 cent minimum plus 20 cents to ebay.) The rates may be slightly higher than that now.

As for how to ship to the customer that depends on what you are shipping and how much risk you wish to take. Normally for values under $700 you are supposed to use delivery confirmation. But I believe that costs about $1.35 plus the 49 cents postage and you are losing money on a $2 sale. (You could require the buyer to pay shipping, but you will be charged paypal and ebay fees on the amount you charge for shipping as well.) Personally on a $2 coin I would just put it in a 2X2 or flip and tape it to the center of a sheet of paper. Fold that in thirds and then staple through it on all four sides of the 2X2 (Not through the 2X2 ) just so the 2x2 can't move around. Then put it in a #10 envelope with a first class stamp and drop it in the mail. You are now down to receiving $1.01 on your $2 coin sale. The risk here is if the buyer claims he didn't receive it you will have to refund him the $2 and you are out the coin and the $2 (you can get your fees back)

For higher value sales the shipping recommendations get more complicated depending on value.

Standard ebay final value fees are 10%. Paypal fees are 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. For higher dollar items, the $0.30 fee is not very significant and you can 13% as a good approximation of how much you will pay in fees but at the $2 level it becomes a significant percentage. A $2 sale will net you about $1.44 before shipping costs which about 28% in fees. Postage for an envelope is $0.49 or $0.70 if you decide to add the $0.21 nonmachinable surcharge. After all costs, you will receive $0.95 on a $2 sale that includes shipping.

The second question to ask yourself is it worth your time. For someone just starting out, it may be fine just to get a feel for the process and to help build up feedback before you start listing higher dollar items.
Rest in Peace

You've already received great informative replies.

Unless I'm selling something for $30+ I don't list it. My time is worth more than that.

Describe item, take photos, edit photos, answer questions, send invoice, wait for payment, wrap and ship package, leave feedback, await feedback, possible return.

Download the " ebay profit calculator app" from the google playstore and you will see why a lot of people no longer sell on ebay! There are advantages but the dis-advantages seem to be greater! Check it out .....

I calculate at about 13%, which I will add to the "buy now" price when I list an item.

As in general, ebay will try to squeeze every cent from you by manipulating rules and regulations. I want to shout out that their rating system became a total scam, IMO. It's almost impossible to stick a negative feedback as both buyers and sellers.
