Hflirn I have been asked. to photograph a 1936 dot penny. the collector has been asked. to send these pictures to heritage auctions. he has been told that they have a numismatist. ready to fly here if it is the real thing or even close. it sure looks like the real thing. well I will let you know how this goes.

the coin most definitely has a dot. but is is not copper. see Hflirn that what focus stacking can do for you. if there is even a hair you can make the hair look like. the size of a log clear and in focus. see the magnification is at 10 power with a multiplier. focus stacking you take layers as thin as paper. stack them for a complete image.that is all it takes to see if this is a real 36 dot. well no winner here. hope you have a better luck.

As I asked you in the other CCF forum that you posted this, is the spot under the 9 & 3 raised or sunken? You said that it was sunken and you put a "lol" from your son who said that it was raised. If it is sunken, you have someone with a drill bit handy. If it is raised and linear, you MAY have something. You need someone else to look at it. As JimmyD has said, the "real" 36 dot has the dot a little lower and more to the "3" side. Look toward the bottom of this link: http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...nt-1920-1936

I will give you the same answer as when you asked in your other post (Which seems to have disappeared), it doesn't matter whether it is raised or incused that is not a 36 dot cent.
