I just found this 1919 in a customer wrapped roll from the bank it's pretty decent shape but my question is why is the rim so thick

Dont think its thin, I see usually sized rim for 1919 penny. Look and compare other photos on google, they have same thick rim.

Higher pressure (hydraulic) strike, forces metal deep into devices and causes rim offset to become thicker

Looks pretty good and rim looks ok to me. Trying to reconcile why the fields are so heterogeneous. Maybe some very old attempts at cleaning?
