Hello All,

I recently found a 1990 quarter that I cannot identify with regards to what type of minting error it may have and if it is of any value.
The quarter appears to be thinner than a typical quarter and is missing the groove marks on the edge of the coin. It also appears to be smaller in diameter on the eagle side.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

It looks like it was acid-dipped or in a very acidic environment that ate away some of the metal, the copper faster than the CuNi cladding.

I agree with @spruette and @crazyb0 that your quarter was treated with acid. There is no value above face value for this coin, but could be interesting to save nonetheless. Welcome to CCF by the way--I hope that you stick around and show us other coins from your collection.

Hello All,
Thank you so much for the helpful posts in identifying the anomalies with this coin!
The acid also appeared to turn back the years for President Washington who looks younger and skinnier with the 1990 coin.
Thanks again!
