Last year at this time
Our Forum Mom Her right hand Bobby and a few others began working on this forum.

Early this year it was started and will have 500 registered members by year end.

When The forum was started, I was the only one interested in Australian Coins. I like many others came here from other forums.

I came because it was a friendly family place to be.

In my early coin collecting days SUSAN introduced me to the term
DARKSIDER - I thought I was some villan from Star Wars.

I was honoured to be known as a darksider.

After a few months, I convinced Susan and Bobby to start a seperate thread for Australian Coins.

Being the only Aussie collector active on the forum at the time, that kind of made me the EMPEROR or Pharaoh of the Australian Coin section.

Not haveing the best knowledge in the world of Australian coins, I invited my mates from the Australian Forum to join this forum- many visited some joined.

NOW we have quite a few forum members interested in "DARKSIDE" coins or more especially Australian Coins

First- Thank you.

Second as a moderator on the forum, I do not care if you call yourself a darksider a knight of the coin table or whatever title you desire.

We have places on the forum for US coins, Canadian Coins, Aussie coins, UK coins and World coins.

If we need any other speciality area,we will create them as the interest is shown.

We will however not tolerate exclusiveness or any activity that will divide the forum.

So you may call yourself a Kinght of the Coin Table- which honour you also bestowed on me - thank you
or you may call yourself a darksider, but we will always refer to you as forum members and friends.

For those who want to be a knight- it is simple, if you collect Australian Coins and post about it you get invited to be a knight.

If you are not a Knight perhaps you would like a title like Guru.
It does not matter what you put after your name as long as you are courteous, play nice are fair and want to belong to the forum.
As for me you may refer to me as
rggoodie, Richard or whatever you feel.
rggoodie
aka Richard

Richard, Thank you and I could not agree more. I found this forum at a very low spot in my life. I was welcomed with open arms and I will never forget that. I look forward each day to coming here, learning and enjoying the sense of community. This is a special place, with special people that I respect and I'm honored to be a member. Peace, Mike

Thank you Sir Richard!!! Very well put and quite frankly I have been called a lot worse through the years so being a Knight of the Coin Table, or an Ambassador of the Darkside, or the Stimulus of Australia's economy matters not as long as this forum stays JUST LIKE IT IS! Many of us are now linked in one way or another so it is best we carry on and continue those relationships which we have forged! Everyone have a great holiday and if you find an extra job please send it my way! You don't even have to gift wrap it!!!

Please forgive my lateness in responding to this thread. It's been a very trying couple of weeks.

First, Merry Christmas to all the members!

I have belonged to three coin forums over the past many months. One no longer exists. Another, I check into once and a while.

The reason I like this one so much is that it indeed is, like a family. I may never meet any of the members face-to-face in my lifetime, but I can picture what they look like, and I get a good sense of the kind of people they are.

I am not one who lives on the computer, but each time I sit down in front of it, Coin Community is one of the first places I go.

Regarding "Knights of the Coin Table," the "complaint" was much to-do over nothing. All in fun, and something I hope will continue in 2006. I am sure everything regarding the "Knights" is now resolved, but it is simply a matter of "play the game" if you find it amusing, and disregard if you don't.

The year 2005 has been interesting for me. In January I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, Chronic Leukemia, and Arterial Arteritis. Through moderm medicine and the care and loving of family and friends, I have done well, and although I must continue to check my progress, the future looks bright. I am so thankful. As the year hit the mid-point and started to wind down, many great things happened. I continue to improve physically, and hope to be back soon to where I was a year ago. I was selected as one of five "Distinguished Alumni" from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado, and I started to find that this forum was so worthwhile, entertaining and educational. Most important, it has been wonderful to sit back and watch the kids and grandkids, and see what they acheive, as well as do things with them.

Please excuse this overly long post. I just wanted members to know I was thankful for them, this forum, and most importantly, my family and the positive direction my life has taken.

So, again, Merry Christmas to all!!!!

Gary, you are to be commended for your positive outlook. I agree with you 100% and am so happy that you have chosen to share your perspective with our community.

I think we can all learn a lot from you. Thank you again for being a part of our family.

Those who have ventured to the Aussie Forum will know I am a Mod on that Forum. On an invitation from RG I came over and immediately liked what I saw as this Community was going through its embryonic stages. It was with a bit trepidation that I registered as a member, with the realisation that I will be completely "wet behind the ears" when it came to US coinage....I am glad I did..

Darksiders, Knights, the round coin table or whatever else anyone may want to call it or bestow on one another is nothing more than a few of us taking the mickey off one another as we educate each other to look at coins beyond our collecting boundaries.More important is the lesson we have learnt to laugh at each other and ourselves again. A quality of life that a lot of us have forgotten...

All of these can only take place when friendships are formed, cultivated and maintained.

I have learnt a lot about US coinage and in a reciprocal way, I hope members here have been given the opportunity to be exposed to and also learn about Aussie issues. I am now thinking about dipping my little toe into this vast pletora of coins that is available to collectors of US coins.

My thanks to RG for inviting me over, to members in particular Terry, for the priviledged warm hand of frienship extended to me, to the Mods for maintaining the desired equilibrium within the Community and lastly to Susan for having me.

I am now here to stay and look forward to the years ahead as we trade both our knowledge and experiences in a positive and matured way.

Happy New Year....
