A New Error Variety For The 1923 P Peace Dollar?

Not in Cherry pickers, Not in Vams top 50, I have never seen this on any 1923 P Peace dollar ANYWHERE. If you know of one then please help me in providing me some information on this! dave700x Rest in Peace United States 10625 Posts	Posted 12/14/2017 1:14 pm The only VAM listing for a die gouge off the olive branch is VAM-1T1 and VAM-1T2 and this is not it. I would recommend getting it in front of the guys over on VAMworld to see if anyone has seen this before. There are a couple of guys who really know Peace dollars. Report this Post to the Staff

messydesk Valued Member United States 149 Posts	Posted 12/15/2017 10:16 am I'm thinking this might be a die clash from the top of Liberty's head. Usually, these show up a little farther to the right, in the rays, looking like a worm, but there's no reason it couldn't show up close to the branches. If you look at the top of Liberty's head, it's actually outlined by a deep "trench," which is a high part of the die. These clashes aren't listed in the VAM catalog and are considered rather common. If it is a die gouge, it would seem to be a new variety. Gouges usually have tapered ends that come to a point in the field, unless their ends are obscured by the devices (rays, leaves).
