The spread in UNUM is easy to see on the DDR. 66RD Compare your coin to the examples on PCGS. It's a VERY obvious variety. Yes, it's worthy of saving. The vast majority of 1983 cents are completely undesirable to collectors. They are plagued with bubbles, black spots, hits and corrosion. Your coin is a beautiful example!
