Wexler's Die Varieties indicated Class II Doubled Dies -Distorted Hub Doubling showing Liberty on the Obverse. I believe I have the same Distorted Hub Doubling and also on United States Of America and E Pluribus Unum. Any thoughts? Thanks.

When speaking of Doubled die yes, that is the terminology behind the hubbing process that caused that class of doubling. You have damage, that is NOT doubling. PDD Plate disturbance doubling is a form of damage and stated as such because of the visual effect. Hub doubling and Strike Doubling are two different animals, different times and different means. Read my Volume 1 below for a full explanation of the hubbing process, it will help you in the long run.

I see Machine Doubling on both sides. The motto is affected by a struck through issue. There is also split plating issues from a strong strike. Probably the bounce after the strike altered the devices.

Ok thanks Crazyb0 and Coop for evaluating. Crazyb0 I read your Volume 1 and it was very informative. It's difficult trying to distinguish the difference between Hub Doubling and Strike Doubling. One day I will get it right!

back Coop! I hope all is well with your computer!

Working but can't get on line yet. Using a phone and tablet to post nowadays. No light at the end of the tunnel yet.
