Hello!

I have a coin I would love to learn a little bit more about.

The first image is a normal date for this token.

This second image is my token, and the "18" from 1815 appears to actually be a "13" of a different typeface.

Ns-13A1-Miles-White-Halifax-Token...-Is-This-Something-Rare?

Is this a new variety? What is the name for this type of coin if it is not a known variety? Would this typically have a higher or lower value?

Thanks!

The 8 took as hit angled lower left to upper right across the center of 8, you can see residuals of junctions. Seems same location and font as normal.

If you look closely, you can see the shape of the
eight as the hit did not go deep enough to reach the field.

Also welcome to the CCF.

On such coins / tokens, environmental damage (corrosion, rust, etc.) often hides and distorts legends.

The Miles White half penny is not as common as say, Dragon Slayers or Nova Scotia / New Brunswick issues, and yours is typical of the condition when they are found.

I think if your pictures were as clear as the example you show a lot more could be determined. My bet would be either corrosion (as mentioned by Doug) or perhaps the 8 was impacted ( PMD) at some point.

There is also the chance that it was struck with a partially filled die, but being so worn I doubt it would bring a premium.

Thanks again everyone, it looks like it you were right. It is a normal 1 and 8 as you already knew.
