Don't know much about paper currency but I noticed the "A 01234...." serial number and thought it was pretty cool and potentially a collectors item?!? How close is it to be considered "fancy"?

For "fancy" notes it's pretty much a "yes" or "no" situation.
Close doesn't count.
Therefore yours is definitely "no".

Well, it's a partial ladder note, which aren't that rare. Keep it if you like it, but otherwise it's a spender.

If you're interested, here's a link to a PMG page about fancy serial numbers. You might also want to check out CoolSerialNumbers.com for information as well.

There's a good article in PaperMoney from way back in 2011 that discusses printing rarity of various fancy serial numbers.

Not even a cigarillo!

Read the nearby "Post your Almost a Fancy S/N" thread and you'll have a better understanding of what "fancy" means.
