If you look up the errors for this year its correct though it could be like 12 different variations and this being one of them I looked at it with a magnifying glass and where the marks should be is two small blob masses its not polished or rubbed off theres metal protruding out of the coin where the marks should be , what ive read it was caused by grease filling the press causing this

Also I would like to point out this coin is extremly fine grade because the only wear is on the chin line and cheek. And the front steps in the back and sense I looked with a magnifing glass I can very clearly see the coin wasnt damaged

PCGS were at one time grading them thinking there just an issue with one die. Then the quit grading them after figured it was over polishing and can happen on all dates when thay are polished. I don't collect stuff like that. Give me a die variety or a earlier die strike. That to me is where I set my line for collecting. But that's how I feel.

Could you give me a link to where I can learn to spot things like that? I'm new to this and can never really find anything legitimate
Rest in Peace

Stvinny, the polished die fad(all it is) is not considered an official Mint produced error, therefore in the REAL world of coin collecting are nothing more than a curiosity and take up usable space(kinda like some people I know!). 1969 and 1970 must have employed some aggressive die polishers at the different mints for this in so many various stages is quite known. If you are interested in the process of error development, there are many worthwhile errors to search for with much more intrinsic value than the minor metal machine shop normalities as this polishing baloney. To each their own tho...

Oh, and BTW, your coin is thoroughly circulated, the wear patters, dings, scratches, discoloration is a normal EF40 at best, nothing to brag about, 200 billion more.

Well you're at the spot. I share a lot of passed on information/experiences of collectors that have dealt with graders in the past. Some experiences are from some of the six forums I've shared in during the past. Some forums are still present, others no longer are being used.
