An interesting MD but a very good example to tell exactly what it is. Notice the areas circled. It is very slight, but do you see on the I at the bottom of the side is slightly indented, shaved off is what ti did by the movement. Sam with the top of the N. Real slight, but MD will ALWAYS REDUCE the size of the device. If this was a Doubling, there would be an increase to the width of these letters.

BTW, Your pix are EXCELLENT! I was able to expand without loss of resolution to pixelation. Not an easy feat to do!

I agree with Crazyb0 that it is a very good and nice example of Machine Doubling. You should keep that one so you can eventually differentiate between a real Doubled Die vs a Machine Doubled coin. For Doubled Dies, devices increase in size. Machine Doubling reduces the devices size and is shelflike (flat). What you need to look for on Doubled Dies is extra thickness, notching, separation lines, and the matching die markers. Hopefully, this will help you out in the future coin roll hunting. Just remember what I said to look for on Doubled Dies and you will become a master eventually. Great outstanding pictures by the way.

These guys are right, not to say you second guess everyone like I have before. I had the same cent a week or two ago. I learned a lesson about getting my hopes up too soon. I was well worth it because I had to do a little bit of work to understand exactly what types of doubling there were. I don't know them by heart but I am getting it more and more each time.

Take it easy and good hunting

Good to know! I will get this down. #128526; Thanks for the help. As for pictures, I just use my iPhone and a cheap macro lens bought from the Familt Dollar Store! It's easier then lugging out my Nikon to attempt photos. LOL! Thank you all again!! #128526;
