So, this is the second spike head for today (need to buy lottery ticket) ; first was Philly now Denver, but this one is in an arc through the face to the cheek bone, small die crack on reverse LRH of Memorial also. Is this unusually long for a die crack or not?

I do not see one like that on cuds-on-coins.com. If a match cannot be found , it may be worth it for you to either email pics of this coin or send the coin into cuds-on-coins. Can you show pics of the whole coin obverse and reverse?

That's die chips on the reverse, good die marker references for attribution as Tootall pointed out!

That's a very nice "Spiked Head" Die Crack. Great find. Did you pull this from a OBW BU roll?

http://goccf.com/t/303179#2592555You may find this funny in a karma sort of way. I bought some rolls on ebay that were "copper". I got my package and 25% of them were 1983+ I believe those are zinc unless I get lucky and find a 3.11g date (I checked, I didn't). I contacted the seller who basically told me they didn't bother to check and TS for me...I have found quite a few unusual coins in those rolls and I have just started.

Thanks everyone and I have taken @Tootallious recommendation and sent it in to cuds-on-coins to be reviewed and see what they think. When someone from the popular sites does the attribution; does it carry the same significance as the professional grading services? If I post that so and so from X site attributed/certified the coin do you send it to a company then or is it good enough bonafides for collectors? As a side note, when I submit something to a professional grading company (ANACS) it usually costs quite a bit. When I pay for imagery - what do you get? Anything? Is there a forum or can someone share with me how to get a coin certified/graded professionally at a reasonable price? For instance the 1959-P Rainbow Toned cent probably won't bring much but it would be cool to have it graded/protected. Thoughts? By the way, the "fake" and "it's not really a 3 1/2 legged Buffalo" folks missed that one, it was certified by ANACS as an FS-901 1936-D 3 1/2 legged Buffalo which I sold reasonably to a person who supported my find on this site. BIG THANKS to everyone who offers an opinion, makes the effort to use a post as a "teaching" moment to encourage the hobby and takes the time to respond to the posts, it is sincerely appreciated!

SF11Dude, getting a coin attributed and getting a coin graded are two entirely different entities. Experts, Correct me if I'm wIrong! If cuds-on-coins,varsity vista, doubleddie.com, etc... Attributes one of your coins, it will be listed on there site, books etc... And you will be noted as finder/owner of said coin. Knowing that you have a coin that has been attributed, when filling out a submission form for grading it will be a bit easier for you and helps with the designation of the coin when grading. Yes grading can be very expensive especially if your having a coin graded where the cost of grading far exceeds the value of the coin Being Graded! That said, NGC offers $150 credit with them when you join, and of course there are different levels membership. The least expensive one is $139 per year and that does includ the $150 credit that must be used before the yearly membership expires. So, join for the 139 and you can send in your first batch of coins fo free. Ther are different fees for what you want out of it, style of slab, photos, etc. go to their site and check I out. I'm sure that you would find a membership that will fit your needs.

Thanks Tootallious! I have seen people say "send it in to X, it is $7"...I send it in and it is always more. Looking for recommendation on how to get PGS at the best cost. Thanks! For everyone on this site, Merry Christmas!
