Carrigna Valued Member United States 413 Posts	Posted 12/19/2017 8:49 pm Arkie, Since October 2017, they are no longer tender---they cannot be used to make any purchases in the UK. One may deposit these coins into the UK bank account. Your best bet is to have someone who could help you to deposit round pound coins into the bank account. I think it would be a bit difficult as no one wanted to be caught with fake pound coins if they were to help you out. Unless you have family or have some connection to the UK, it might be somewhat easier for you.
