I'm actually a little surprised that the total is the record for a British coin.

Edward VIII: what a character!

I just spent the last 45 minutes reading about him. It is quite an interesting story. Concerning coins, I learned about the whole opposite-facing portraits convention and why both George V and George VI face left despite Edward VIII facing left in between.
