I just noticed that there are two font types for the "s" in the word trust on the obverse. One font has the typical full curved "S" and the other has a flat horizontal line for the top of the "S" almost like an upside down "2" but in reverse. Does anyone have info on this variety?
I have found 12 out of 41 coins like this.

Show pix. What you describe could be die attrition, dies state, damaged dies. There were more than one obverse die used, the product of many working hub and master hubbed dies. It is quite possibly two different master hubs were used. Not any big deal, certainly no error.

It is most likely an effect of Die Deterioration (Late or Very Late Die State).
