In my new adventure, I have come across....
Two small date 1982's, one weighs 2.980 and the other is 1982 D and is zinc and weighs 2.465. The other four are big date, couple D's and couple no mint mart weights range from 2.5 - 3.0. Are any of these "real" finds? Sorry these pictures are not the best, I did not plan on showing them. After work, I will include better ones.
Just thought I could get some idea from these? Should I have them graded? or not waste the time? Researching shows they may be worth something? Can I quit teaching?

I certainly would not get these graded. Not worth the cost.
These are very common in BU.
It's a good observation you have made, that there are 7 different 1982 Lincoln cents plus the proof 1982 S in copper. There are reports of a rare 1982 D small date copper cents.

The Mint did not track separate mintages for each of the varieties, just that Philly made 10.7 billion and Denver made 6 billion. The switch happened in November of 1982, so it's estimated that only 5-10% of 1982s are zinc. Still, that is more than many regular years, so no extra value there.

The 1982-D small date in copper is the BIG rarity; currently only one is known and I believe it fetched ~$30,000 at auction earlier this year. For that reason alone, I check every 1982-D small date, and they have all been zinc.

Last time I read about it, I noticed that the famous copper 82-D small date had a nice RPM too.
Rest in Peace

Hey Surf, if you got the one and only SD "d" copper,I don't think this RPM will increase the value much...

So, besides the 1982 D Copper being rare is the copper 1982 large date rare?
