The correct term is "Mortar and Pestle".

You may be thinking of "Mortise and Tenon", a carpentry term.

Funny stuff. Yes. You nailed it. I had an employer and dear friend many years ago that would mix up sayings like that. My favorite of all time was when he blurted out,"I wouldn't touch him as far as I could throw a ten foot pole!"

Looks like an oriental character of some type. Chinese perhaps? Anyone out there know what it means?

Took me a few seconds to see the elephant. At first I thought it was a peacock!

Interesting counter stamp. c/S/c in a circle. Must be a company's logo. My feeble attempts at searching online came up empty. Anyone with better skills than I have any better luck?

Edit: Looking at it again I now see the "H" in the design too.

Interesting find.

My first thought was it could be a person's initials in that style which was popular in the 80s and still seen time to time on car windows and front plates down here... CCS.

But then there is that H.

Another Chinese character that I don't know what it means. I tried to do a Google image search but I think I'm doing something wrong. This is a MUCH better, cleaner stamp than the last Chinese character I had inquired about. For those following along Corbe had found that the last one meant "Blessing". Thanks in advance for any help translating this one.

Edit: For the previously posted counter stamp macmercury and Sap in another thread came up with the definition of "Good Luck" or "Good Fortune". Looking it up I have to agree that this is correct. Thanks guys.
