I recently stumbled across it's meaning: Quote: These were a novelty item created privately using a genuine 1975 cent, counterstamped with 12-31-74, and then gold plating them. They were made to commemorate the end of Roosevelt's gold recall order of 1933. 12/31/74 was the first day since March 5, 1933 that US citizen could legally own gold without restrictions.
