Used to do a LOT of stream walking in back waters while pursuing these guys. Some good memories of being out in nature for sure...and a ton of fish! Thought I recognized the shape.

How about a Sheriff's badge Earle? I'm surprised too at the variety of counter stamped and pressed cents that are out there.

Sure makes for an interesting hunt I am sure. Very glad you have this thread and keep it alive.

I have sent a number of people online here just to see it

Oops...My other hobby tells me this is one of a pair of a lineman's pole climbing gear known as a "gaf." One for each leg (proper leather straps also of course) and you are like a cat climbing a pole...a lot of fun! I have a couple pairs and have used them a LOT in the past.

Somewhat A repeat of what I said before...I never would have thought a penny would be pressed with such a gaf.

...now it would be great to find one with an insulator counterstamp or pressed into it LOL!

BTW - if you zoom that window picture you can see towards the middle top a counterstamped penny (on card) Chiefmasterj gifted me with b/c the insulator to the left came off the line the counterstamp (golden spike) represents . That card/penny was something he posted here awhile ago.

Credit where credit is certainly due!
