Brandmeister, when I was a kid back in the '60s/early 70s those Lincoln/Kennedy cards were sold at every dime store and 5 and 10 in town.

More like a billy (or Is it a nanny?) goat ENcounter stamp! Poor Honest Abe!

Ewe! Rammed nose to nose with a goat is not a condition I would like to find myself permanently confined to!

I know, I know. The two puns really are not related to the goat topic, but hey, most people don't know the difference anyway

Sometimes, these counter stamps are just too big.

I agree. They just don't fit in that little space.

Cool Nonetheless
.

We have to keep in mind that except for the very early ones, initially they were mainly counterstamped by machines such as from littleton and came along with some form of documentation, but the more recent examples are mostly coming from metal stamps hand countermarked into the coin as I mentioned here a bit back on this thread and showed examples you may have missed. http://goccf.com/t/303507&whichpage=196#3859672

I agree with earle even those are cool nonetheless as it creates a great variety for a interesting collection and this huge topic. Since those stamps can also be custom made it would be hoped that someone might start to make some cool ones or something that many people request but most stick to what metal stamps are released in bulk for a cheap cost to buy. I personally always enjoyed novelties even when value would not be there, but tend toward things like the variety in 1 ounce silver and copper rounds. Modern coins are also interesting but tend toward much higher costs when they vary from the norm, as well as things like hobo nickels but those too can get expensive due to being unique and essentially artwork so I think the counterstamps/countermarks is a great idea to collect without such incredible expense for the others.
