Can anyone give me information on this currency, presumably Chinese? It was part of a collection of currency from my wife's father, now deceased. Thanks.

The circular lobed device in the top centre of the note ( partly obliterated by the rip ) is a stylised chrysanthemum flower. This is an important Japanese symbol used in many places, including coins, Japanese heraldry etc.
