G'day, according to Renniks 22nd edition 2007, notes dated 2006 were printed in every denomination, except $100. And the prefixes extend a fair way down the alpahbet, so there are millions of them ... somewhere.
I've seen 2006 $20, and I've even got a 2007 $20, but until today, I haven't seen any other denomination for 2006.
Took my boys to the Rural Show today. Bought two steak sandwiches - very tasty - but in the change I got the least-circulated note I've seen since polymer came in: no creases, only a slight bend in the middle - a 2006 $10. There was some impressive juggling until I got it into flat storage: now I grasp the wisdom of always keeping a book in my backpack.
Anyway, let me guess: everyone else in Australia is tired of the sight of 2006 notes, and you see nothing in circulation but 2007 & 2008 ?

I rarely check my notes unless I notice one that's really crisp with no folds. Even then, I hardly ever keep them. I use notes to buy coins. Hehehe

Eddy, the first two digits of the serial number are the year. For example, the first prefix for 2006 dated $50 notes is AA06 XXX XXX.
And I am yet to see any 2008 notes here in Melbourne yet. Only seen $20 for 2007, and sorry Peter, plenty of 2006.
I think I have mentioned before, there is an ATM at Greensbourgh shopping centre that regularly gives out uncirculated notes. The Westpac one on the second level. So plenty of $20 and $50 notes from 2006.

In the last week in my mums wallet there has been a 2006 $10, and also I found an Unc. 2006 $5, but it had a small crease in the middle, probably from mum.
