So yesterday I went to my parent's house for the hollidays. On the way I stopped at a coin shop and bought some new 2€ CC's, an Ike dollar (nothing special, I just wanted to own one that I can touch) and 1888 hungarian Gulden. After about 2 hours of chatting, I hit the road again. Upon my arrival home, my mother told me she found some old Yugoslavian and Austrian (I correctly assumed republic) coins. I said Ok, I'll take a look, but strongly suspected there won't be anything of interest there.
And indeed, there were a lot of schillings and dinars, but three coins stood out.

First it's this 2000P dime that's slightly off center. No biggie, but it's my first US coin that could even remotely be considered as an error coin.

That-Moment,-When-You-Find-Gold

Then I found a 1915 corona. 83,5% silver. Really like those coins. Free silver

That-Moment,-When-You-Find-Gold

And last but not least - gold! This is 20 korona, hungarian type, from 1893. Made my heart stopped for a second. The coin was most probably cleaned, but it matters not, especially not considering it's a find :D

That-Moment,-When-You-Find-Gold

How the gold coin came to mother's house it's a bit of mystery, but we concluded, that it has to be brought to the house after cleaning my fathers mother's house after she died in 2006 among books, letters and other personal stuff. But that's speculation.

All in all, one of best Christmas presents ever :D Even though in this canse Santa didn't even know he is Santa

P.S. Sorry for bad photos; my phone camera is quite bad, and the lightning here horrible.

The 1893 gold coin looks to be silver. The 2000-P dime,if the other side is centered it is called a MAD (misaligned die) if it is off center also it is an off center strike.

John 1: the other side is centered, so I didn't bother to photo it. Thanks for clearing it up for me ;)
As for 20 korona: It's gold, just lightning was really bad. Here's another photo. It's bad, but it shows goldend color

Thank you all. I really like the design on Hungarian koronas too.
Half: Glad to hear you're doing fine. I'm also ok; I'll be changing job in February. Looking forward to it.

Great grabs. It sounds like you obtained some nice coins for your collection. The 20 Korona still doesn't look gold.

Weight?

I don't have a scale at my parent's house, so I can weight it when I return home in a few days (at which point I can also make better photos).
A Numista link for reference: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces33163.html
I don't have much experience with gold, but in all aspects the 20 corona seems real to me. I also can't imagine it would be a fake, given it's provinence.

fioti: It's KM 486.
You porably looked at some other coin. No way 20 korona would go for $ 1350. Perhaps 100 korona coin, but not 20. Melt value is $ 250.

I think the XF values were outdated, then the MS values were added without changing the XF ones. The price list is usually identical to the one in Krause's catalogues. I've also noticed that there were coins that got listed for $20 at VF and $3 at XF (IIRC, may be off, but you get the point, right? ).

Another gentle reminder that world coin price catalogues are not always 100% accurate and updated thoroughly (which is worse than not 100% accurate).

P.S. can't wait for a good shot of the gold coin .

Thank you.
One of of my interests (other than Euro and US coins) are coins of Austro-Hungarian empire, and I have a general feeling to what some coin can be worth and - perheps more important - how it shood look like. I also know not to trust catalogues 100 %. But no matter how I looked at those figures, they just didn't made any sence
