Gorgeous coin. Congrats!

I agree, Ptolemy IV, Alexandria cornucopia series 5 from Ptolemybronze.com. Perhaps lambda-iota as leg mongrams (ΛΙ).

Nice pick-up @ER--these are pretty substantial coins!

Wow. You got a great deal. These monsters typically go for a good deal more, especially in this condition. Well done.

In my opinion, it's not worth having it graded since that would eat into your profits if you're looking to flip it. I would think you stand to turn a nicer profit without the grading, but I could well be wrong.

Here are a few series 5 drachms with sale prices listed, for comparison:

@ER, obviously it is your choice, but I would argue that submitting your coin to a basement TPG could be worse than leaving it raw in terms of sale-ability.

Spence my answer to that would be most likely it would lower the chance of sale unless the holder looked really good ;)

You got it for an excellent price, one this nice would sell in the $225 range. I would not waste your money to have it graded the only ancient coins that I would ever consider to be graded are high end silver or gold.
