Sadly for us collectors, no. The only ones I managed to find in the last six years were on ebay, but fortunately, I got them for less than face.

I was just curious if they were still found in circulation or in rolls from banks.

They are not found in circulation, but sometimes banks have them in the back of their safe with the 1 dollar and 2 dollar notes and 50 cent pieces.

They are still legal tender and they do still get turned into banks. I was offered 35 of them last year at the bank but declined.

I haven't found any at my banks, either. I'd love to come a cross a few more. I'm looking to put together a set of the nickel dollars.

coincoin, is right snaz, the banks do have them in the back someplace.
The tellers I deal with wait until someone turns in a bunch , and they usually call me.
I just picked up 28 Nickel dollars, and 76 or so Nickel .50 cents.

I just use them for trades, or the like.

My grandpa bought several of them for me at a coin show.

They were very inexpensive and made a nice start on my Canadian coin collection.

My bank told me that all out of circulation coins are sent to the Bank of Canada. I e-mailed the Bank of Canada hoping to find out what happens to the coins(and dollars), and whether I could get some, and they did not respond.

How does that relate to the Bank of Canada, or the major banks?
