*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Must be posting some tough ones today, normally the diagnosis is immediate. :)
I have learned quite a bit but the things I posted are not the "usual suspects".
Someone knows what is causing these "shavings' all centered on the memorial from Lincoln out to the roof lines. Sometimes the columns and sometimes the roof; I don't believe they are contacts based on the very clean BU otherwise.
Hub Damage? What would cause thin scrapes like these?
Thoughts?

Lower column5 upper column6? Looks like contact PMD. Whether from coin or other object in storage/transport. There is a section above Bay 2&3 on top of roof that remains from a polishing, area to right was removed. Other than that not seeing anything else?

Also note the MD in a NE direction around the edge devices USA.

Most of the issues you are seeing on the devices, are indent marks, which are damage. The uneven columns are from previous die polishing.

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.

Why Topic Titles are Important

The title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....

  • Horrendous: Help!

  • Bad: Need help with coin

  • Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar

  • Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar

  • Awesome: Need help with VAM on 1896 Morgan Dollar

This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.
