Hello,
I have a 1998 Lincoln Penny that has a double bar line on the last T of "trusT".
I looked closely but the double beating is only present at that point. What do you think?

Thank you so much!!

It looks like a plating problem. Either split plating or trapped gas/debris.

Need a closeup to fully confirm, but this appears to be Plate Disturbance Doubling. If a foreign object(crud, air, moisture) was trapped between the copper plating and zinc core, upon stamping could have produced the "sympathetic" reaction. It isn't a hub doubled event nor is it MD, more evidence would be seen elsewhere on the devices.

Darn, beat again! Too wordy...

I bought it for 1 euro at a numismatic conference in my city. In the "bowls" here in Italy there are many pieces of Lincoln, Dime, Quarter, in poor condition. I took this because it was in high conservation.

You're right -- it's in pretty good shape for a 20-year old Zincoln. No zinc rot that I can see but a few unfortunate fingerprints.

Would have totally been worth €1 (and then some) all day long if it were a WAM.

Odd it ended up in Italy. Nice find though. However, only appears to be a small PMD or just something in the making.
