I have a 1971-D Half Dollar I was wondering if someone can help me, is this doubling on the reverse where it says "DOLLAR" here are the photos.

That is MD. But what is going on at the 6k-8k on the obverse and 6k-9k on the reverse?

Looks like some late die distress, although grease isn't out of the question for those areas that John is asking about.
