What you have is called a misaligned die (MAD). The obverse die was offset, but the reverse die was in (mostly) normal position. Generally, minor examples have no extra value. The ones that do have some small value are those that are misaligned enough to cut off parts of letters/devices.

Yours does show some missing parts of the letters in IN GOD WE TRUST. I don't know what it would be worth, but I would say it does have a small premium value over face.

Sidenote: when you create a post with pics, use the "Preview" button to make sure your pics are oriented correctly before you post.

It's an honest error and well worth saving. It's not much for cash value, but it is a nice hunting prize.

Usually don't find MADs that shifted. Caused by the hammer die being very loose in its mounting, hits slightly offcenter and at an angle.Nice defined second rim, into the error collection it should go! Nice find!

Note the weakness on the reverse? That is what you see on the collectible MAD coins. Because of the miss alignment, the full strike doesn't happen on all devices. Just like the reverse on your coin has.

to the forum!

Very nice example to find in the wild!

Sometimes finding a coin like this is all it takes to start someone on the road to a lifetime of collecting.
