*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Hey Guys, I don't know how to refer to this damage. What's your take? If its mint damage, I'm wondering why the crater is flat on the bottom and on the reverse are three separate protrusions.

Someone used a countersink punch and whatever it was set on had holes that acceptedvthe downward pressure of pounded metal

On second thought bet it was a fuse fixer. Old electric distribution panels in house had screw in fuses instead of circuit breakers. If you didn't have a replacement, in went a penny and the blown fuse screwed back in. (1940's and 50's tech, dudes!). My daughter's house has one, I showed her worthless husband how to do it!

You can quote by doing the following:
First copy the text you want to quote.
Second, switch to full reply then select the "page icon with the red arrow" then add the copied text.

Mrzllewellyn, to quote someone first you need to highlight what to quote and copy it. Then you want to click on the "reply to topic" link. The white dialogue box will come up. Then, where it says "format" you will see a number of boxes, the next to last one, the one with the piece of paper and red arrow is the one that you want to click on. In between the][ you should see the flashing curser line. Click there then right click and paste. Some times I find it easier to hit the space bar a few times to separate the distance between the ][ so it looks like this ] [
Just makes it easier for me if I'm on my tablet to get the text in between. After you paste, if there is space between your text and the ][ at the beginning and end of the quote, you will need to put the curser in that space and click back space so there isn't any space between the text and ][ like this
( ]see?[ ) hope I didn't confuse you.

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.

Why Topic Titles are Important

The title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....

  • Horrendous: Help!

  • Bad: Need help with coin

  • Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar

  • Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar

  • Awesome: Need help with VAM on 1896 Morgan Dollar

This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.
