It's a 1748 pocket "almanack" made by John Powell of Birmingham. Powell issued pocket calendar tokens during the period 1747-1781. He was known as a 'button-maker who made metal almanacs'.

I've never seen anything like that. What a great little item and what a clever way to make a tiny little calendar!

Thanks for posting. I think it is really interesting and in remarkably good shape.

I collect these by year. They are listed in M. Mitchner's volume on The copper tokens of the British Isles. The first year listed of this type is 1658, I believe. Yours is before the calendar changed in 1752. The earliest I have is from 1729 and helps figure differences between sun time and clock time. A nice set is to collect one from each maker to start. The Birmingham Toymen made these through the early 1800s. The first I saw was a Kempson & Kindon of 1808 found at the Old Quaker Burial grounds long ago. Do you have more?
