Hi, Ok I Do believe I finally found an error coin. Or I hope I did anyway. Its a 1998 D Lincoln Cent with the initials VDS I'll post the pictures an let you the experts tell me what I have. Thank you Kim

Pretty good - I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation but sure looks like VDS!

 To CCF. It looks like it took a well placed hit, causing the letter B look like an "S". PMD (Post Mint Damage) is probably the reason why this happened.

I'm not so sure. A likely explanation is probable, but that sure looks like an S.

ok after looking more closely under a scope it is probably an S but sure fooled me initially. Sorry R

It originally was a "B". But being that this is incuse (VDB incuse), it would be raised on the die. So if the B was damaged/worn off a bit, then the device could be altered making all later coins for this die, would show the same letters incuse. So it would be die damage on that raised device.

Poke it with a toothpick and see if it becomes a B. Maybe some of the plating has raised in that area making it appear to be an S.  I like Coop's explanation best.
