So I know "Black Beauty" is regarded for use only with Jefferson nickels but look at the satin finish on this coin compared to another 1975-D. Weighs 3.06g.
Not Mercury, nor paint or acid so the color comes from?

I agree with @moxking--copper tends to turn chocolate brown as it tones. This one is just far along that pathway.
