Got this coin years back from a local coin dealer, he had it in with some cheap coins. I tried to explain to him what it actually was and he didn't understand my reasoning at all. I tried to explain to him that even without a date, the fact that it had a Denver mint mark on the reverse meant it was a silver dime. Finally I gave him the 2 dollars he was asking for it and thanked him. (edited title for spelling) Edited by Shaw69 12/30/2017 01:29 am

There are dimes created at the Denver mint branch everyday, clad at present. What does the coin weigh? if silver, it should weigh 2.5 grams. if Clad, it would be 2.27 grams
and how does the edge look? solid silver, or can you see the clad sandwich?

I really wasn't expecting anyone to prove how I got this coin so cheaply, lol. The mint marks on Roosevelt dimes were only located on the reverse from 1946 to 1964.

That certainly is a nice score for two bucks! Thanks for sharing. This ebay listing may provide some idea of value: 292382214844However, that example has the date and is slabbed.

to the CCF. I would purchase that for $2 .... nice score. Quote:This ebay listing may provide some idea of value: I caution that any dated off-center coin has much more collector interest than the OP example ... hence a higher value. Interesting to note as well on the ebay coin that the NGC slab is technically not correct ... there is no way to determine the mint location so the coin technically is not able to be attributed despite the NGC obvious 1964 date, as stated.

Pretty sweet find with an awesome price! I had a friend that was trying to sell me one like that but not silver for a measly $2,000!

Technically, the label is correct by including the date only. The absence of a mintmark designation does not automatically mean Philly. The label states the available attribution and nothing more.
