Hi, hoping someone can help me. I came across half a roll of shinny 1983 Lincoln cents. I saw recntly how a 1983 doubled die reverse graded by PCGS a 67 I believe and sold at Heritage Auction somewhere near 7,000.00

I struggle still trying to spot the differences in true doubled dies and those from strike and mechanical and die fatigue. In my pictures I highlighted some areas on two I'm hoping someone can educate me on. I believe I see splits in the serifs doubling in different areas on each coin. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.
Thank you.

to the forum!

Pictures have a lot of light reflection, but even with that I can tell it's not the doubled die you are hoping for.

They are out there, so keep searching!
Rest in Peace

Right - even through the brightness and the slightly blurry pics it's more MD than anything else,

Happy New year, and thank you for checking out my pictures. wondering for educational purposes if you can elaborate. I need to learn what it is I'm looking at. for example What I see as splits in serifs you dont see , please elaborate so I dont keep making the same mistakes. also under E pluribus its identical in one picture as to the one that sold at heritage auction. I'm sure its me, and with all due respect, Ill never learn by someone saying, keep looking their out there. I need someone with years of experience to please look at these pictures and tell me what they see so I can train my eye going forward to know exactly what it is I'm looking at. I guess what I'm really hoping is that someone can say, hey, nice try But in this photo your thinking this is X and if you look.really close its really Z. Next time remember that true doubled dies are always X and Y. I dont mean to come off as rude, Its just that ive been told the best of the best are on this forum and I'm starting to think
If I cant learn here maybe I should just find another hobby.
Sorry if I wasted anyones time. Happy New Year, wishing everyone a safe, healthy , happy new yea4 . #9825;

Give us more to work with. Try to take pictures of the split serifs you see, without so much glare. Which DDR did you see on Heritage? There is more than one for this year.
This is the place to learn, but you're not going to learn it all from one thread nor in one day.

Hi, I didnt mean any disrespect. I had a terrible time uploading my pictures no fault of the forum. I guess I just really fell for collecting and have been testing myself on etror coins this past year putting aside many that appear to me at least after looking at them every possible angle I can to convince myself they cant be true double dies, which they very well might not be. If its okay I'm going to post the coin from Heritage auction along with one of my coins showing similar charachterists to the true doubled die. I'm also going to upload a photo of my coin in a negative format that outlines what I'm seeing. Again, if its me, I'm good with that, I'm just hoping someone can inform me as to why I'm looking at these coins the wrong way. I respect everyones input and truly am trying to learn from your experience to help me. I will post the heritage coin and one of mine and humbly ask for your advice. Thank you
