It looks like Die chips to me, but far far from an expert

Thanks and yes I was thinking it was maybe a die chip... does it look like it might be a little rpm going on there also?

Nice, frosty little Morgan. The San Francisco Mint really set the standard for Morgan production quality early on, and this coin is a good example.

Overpunched mint marks abound for this issue, and yours is one. It's VAM-21:

Your major pickups, as listed on that page, are the doubling on the second 8 and the "connection" inside the top of the you in UNUM which confirm the obverse die, and the MM and "phantom" wreath leaf on the upper left group confirming the reverse. Both dies were used with others, so this pairing uniquely confirms VAM-21.

It's not a "premium" VAM, but a pretty good example of how the little things add up to an attribution.
