Hi Archeo1982

thanks for showing a very popular medium sized silver coin !

the Dutch "Schelling" (worth six stuivers in the 17th and 18th centuries) was the equivalent to the English and Austrian Shilling and Escalin from the Spanish Netherlands

a monetary family, equivalent to the taler/dollar family

the piece you show is quite corroded; was it found in the soil using a metal detector?

Thanks for the extra information! To answer the question: it was Found with the metal detector. The coin was even more corroded when it was dug up. The black oxidation is difficult to remove. Any suggestions?

no I have no experience, sorry
would be reluctant to remove anything because you will remove contrast from the central part of the coin

curious that the metal around the text are less corroded
is there an explanation? or is this coincidence?
