so...like most others - I have accumulated quite a large amount of DDR, doubled columns cents...

many of them I have been able to match to some of the "documented" coins on the various sites...

many, many - I have not been able to match to an already listed coin...

the question I have is...is there really any premium value to these doubled die varieties (listed or unlisted).

i know that coppercoins site has a value listing, but I also know, that site has not been updated in quite some time...

even so...i wonder if those value estimates are reasonable, or even realistic...

opinions are appreciated...

Most doubled columns memorial cents (ones that show doubling around the statue of Lincoln in the 6th bay from around 1998-2008) are not as valuable as noted on coppercoins. I'd say $1 max for most of those.

Unless it's a major example or is a DDR that shows doubling in more places than just a tiny sliver near the statue, don't expect to get more than $1. They are fairly easy to find, not noticeable, and not very interesting.

Are they by chance "Doubled" because of cracking in the copper coating?

The "bar" columns shown on CC are not caused by cracks in the plating. I have always wondered though if this is actual doubling but I am far from being an expert.

If they are common for you to find, they are common for everyone else, too.

What would YOU pay for them?

Here we are again arguing about the very minor errors and value. Point noted, "if they are common, why pay for them" has been my stance from the beginning. Another point made is are they really an error of hubbing or something else. Because most of these are found on coins of the single-squeeze method of production the hub doublings of yesteryear no longer apply. I believe these to be more of a machining error (strike)than a manufacturing (production) error, hence zero value in my book. Sorry to those who bust a gut on these, in 20 years this fad will have passed.

People pay mightily for a nice road-rashed stinkin zinkin, but I can't get anything for a fully documented, pixed MS-63 1950S RPM, a true "error coin" and with a book value of $12! Fergitabbouddit!

Sorry Crazyb0, but I collect these and will still collect them even if 20 years have passed by. I have gotten minor DDO's listed on doubleddie.com and even a minor DDR on a 2016 Nickel on crdievarieties.com. Maybe not everyone collects these, but some do. Everyone has their own differences on what they like to collect.
