I can
easily see this getting abused for
ebay coin sales too, since there's so much subjectivity involved. Ratings will become just as meaningless as before.

I think that
ebay dropped the ball
years ago as they lurched towards a top-down approach to "safety", when actually the most effective entity of
ebay was its
community. As
ebay continues to peel away the strengths of community interaction, they're retreating from a battle where the ultimate losers are buyers/sellers. What remains of community there is a generally unhappy mob reacting against
ebay problems—yet directing their ire at each other.

That's an
inevitable result when a company doesn't take ownership of a problem.
As proof of what an online community
can do, consider how well most coin sales are conducted here at CCF. This suggests
how broken ebay's business has become.
I'll spare you guys any more rant on
ebay for now.
