I have looked at a lot of '72 cents recently and this is the only one I found with this different 2 on it.

This 2 looks taller, thinner and maybe slightly longer than the other 2's in 72 cents I have seen.

Did the mint switch dies or why would the 2 be so different?

Note all the digits of the date are smaller? The die was over polished, removing part of the fields. The devices are tapered so the coins will release after the strike. So when the fields get polished away, then the devices get shorter and thinner. Normally I could post an image, but the host site is not working right now. Grrrrrr.
Rest in Peace

I'm noticing a "thinness" on all outer devices. IGWT, the L of LIBERTY and 2 of date all exhibit this. Die wear, or possibly damage from a crimper over time? The fonts weren't changed from the master hubs, so it has to be post mint.
Rest in Peace

Certainly a question worth asking. Good eyes.
