Underweight coin is on left. Kennedy's profile looks weird to me, either slightly smaller or less detailed. any thoughts? within margin of error for weight?

The right is a later die state first off, secondly, notice the forehead has been polished away on the left coin. It indeed is smaller, but this isn't the cause of weight difference, planchets are the key. There are thick rolled/thin rolled stock plates from which blanks are cut, variances in weight happen. That is not that far out of tolerances.

Metal flow in VLDS will stretch the details as well, and possibly there were different sized master hubs used.
