Hey all,
I thought it would be interesting to see how many folks on our forum compete is larger auctions such as the different sessions Heritage is beginning today. Or Great Collections always ending on Sunday.
Or any others you've had good success with in finding better material.
Thanks for any answers.

Mox, never really looked at any, always figured my paltry $50 auction limit just wouldn't float on most of those. Just can't afford much more, especially for one coin!

Thanks Crazy. I was thinking more of trying to get some new places to search for coins. I do well with the auctions, but there are some coins I'm sick of waiting to find that I would be a buyer for at ask prices.
My want list is smaller than it should be, but I just have to complete my 14 piece 1934 set before I do much else as few of the 34's are cheap.

I typically buy local but I may branch out some this year as it gets tougher to complete a few sets.

I am looking and bidding more at HA auctions these days. Few years back, we were at an exclusive beach during summer vacation, and I grudgingly paid $12 per small bottle of cold water. Every time I utilize ebay, I get the same feeling.

I have in the past, mostly for some world coins. Heritage does goes some quail try material, fir sure.
Their buyer's premium has also climbed in the last couple of years beyond a point I am very comfortable. It's a greater cost than I care for and reducing my max bid accordingly hasn't made me too competitive. 2017 was the first year in 4-5 years I didn't buy anything via Heritage.

I usually buy only on ebay or locally. Items on heritage are just too expensive for me.

I've been checking out Heritage's FUN auctions since Wednesday. The items are mostly outstanding in their classes and, yes, so are the prices. In fact, I've found many of the items setting new record highs. Of course, that's really a good thing for the hobby, though.
One thing I could share of interest. The last couple of days of big auctions like this will have the lesser value pieces. You'll see more G's and F's and problem coins and currency. In this case, it would be on Monday and Tuesday, I believe.

What a mess tonight. The last of the 6 sessions on the signature series is still ongoing, while the first session of the FUN show are also selling at the same time.
Keeping two screens up and watching both is a real problem. I know you can bid ahead of time, but I prefer to lurk in the weeds and make a final snatch of the snipe.
Lost one coin that went so cheap I could have cried.
More tomorrow perhaps. Good material is selling for fantastic prices if you are a seller.

I bought one thing from the FUN Heritage currency auction. I think I got a fairly good price on it.

I might spend more time surfing through Heritage but I hate (hate!) the interface. I have several saved searches at Great Collections and got some of the nicer additions to my type set ( Seated quarter last week) and a few modern commemoratives from them. My only complaint is that I have to pay CA sales tax unless I run up the total to $1500, which is hardly a reasonable goal every time I buy something. I get notifications from David Lawrence for their weekly auctions but they don't have much that I actually want. I have gotten a few things from them but not very recently.
