What are your thoughts regarding the new feedback rules at ebay. As of today a seller can no longer leave negative feedback on a buyer but a buyer can still leave a negative for a seller.

Poor if you ask me....last time I looked there were two parties to every transaction. Each party has the ability to act like a goose. Only one party now needs to pay the consequences for that.

There are dishonest buyers as well as dishonest sellers. Some of the dishonest buyers will use this as a tool to try to scam honest sellers. For example. Say the seller has a return policy on their ungraded, raw coins. You sell and send a coin only to have a different coin returned. What recourse will the seller now have? NONE. The buyer has proof they returned "the" coin with USPS Conformation. The sellers coin could have been worth $200 and you get a $20 coin in return.
I think the new rules are ridiculous and will drive many sellers away from ebay. Especially after they get taken a few times.Ebay is opening Pandora's box with this one.

It should be the other way around. That makes me angry that they made the policy that way cause some people need that money from ebay. Of course there are alot of jerks that try to ruin honest people because there lives are worthless. They have a bad life for themselves so they try to ruin everybody elses.
Rest in Peace

It really does help cripple the shameless self slabbers like numismaticbureau that leave negative seller feedback repeatedly as blackmail to keep their rating up

I think the feedback should be a two-way street to be fair. If the buyer doesn't pay, how can a seller let others know via feedback if negatives are not allowed? Seems to cause a disservice to the ebay community. I think this is gonna cause a fallout of abuse.

You could bet this one wouldn't have happened if the seller could leave feedback.

What recourse do sellers have if they are not paid and paid in a timely manor? Does this free the buyer of the obligation of buying something they bid on?

I just don't understand it. Why risk alienating the people that make the money for ebay? Sellers pay all the costs, and now have the most to lose. Buyers aren't going to give a darn if the sellers disappear from ebay, they will just follow them to wherever they go, if no one else takes their place.

Most people use ebay to look for a bargain, I doubt there are many buyers fiercely loyal. If I can't find what I am looking for at the right price, I go elsewhere.

I guess time will tell how deep a hole they have dug for themselves with all these new rules. And how long it will take to dig themselves out.
