I've been looking at Seated coins a lot for my Dansco 70/70.....since some of you know, they pretty much take up half the album...:-P(why is that anyways?)

Back on topic. I'm curious what you guys think about this seated coin.

I'm not planning on buying or anything(too much for an ebay non-cert coin). But this really looks like a proof cameo to me, and an absolutely stunning coin(provided no funny business is going on).

Nothing about this one looks fake to me, but do they counterfeit these?
I'm surprised this one is raw.

It's likely photoshopped, if he 'thinks' it's worth at least 5500 wouldn't the logical thing to do be to get it slabbed and sell it for a lot more? I mean, it's clear he wants to sell it fast, judging by the buy it now price, why on earth would anyone try to sell something fast at 1/10 the 'estimated value'? makes no sense. place yourself in the other guy's shoes, nobody in the right mind would ever sell something like that for that price. I would perhaps not advise against it so much if he had a return policy and thousands and thousands of sales (though this is still risky), but it doesn't appear as though he has the former nor the latter. Also, there's the typical scam-esque "GEM BU BUY THIS NOW BLAH BLAH BLAH"

I don't collect this series, but at first glance I'm a little bothered by the small pics and angled shots. For a coin like that, it makes it rather hard to verify its authenticity (especially since it's likely that recent die struck fakes exist)--and no return policy is specified. That played-up grade on the 2x2 is rather ridiculous--who could say otherwise by those shots?

Another Scam Give away NO PAYPAL so you can't get your money back that way either if its fake. I would highly recommend passing on this one. In ebay I have found out the hard way "You get what you pay for" and "If it's too good to be true.. it probably isn't"

I agree with what's been said above. If you contact the seller and ask why no return policy, I'd love to see his response.

On the subject of dishonest sellers, I love how vette1986 says he's 'not an expert grader' when he has 110000 sales....

agreed. The sad thing is that I see SOOOO much stuff like this on ebay; it's ridiculous. There still are some good deals to be had on the bay, but I find myself weeding my way through more and more overpriced/questionable junk. I'm not sure how some of these people sleep at night.

that is a beautiful coin but I would wager it is fake, dipped, cleaned etc. I wouldn't touch it for that money.

The 2x2 was just funny. Writing on both sides. A grade. A $8,500 price tag, etc. Even if he was in super need of cash... he wouldn't sell it this cheap.

I don't sell much on ebay, but I always give scans with a ton of detail. I agree with what is said above. Buy at your own risk!

And I especially like how he worked that ballpoint pen into the 2x2 over and over. I suspect it's an attempt to distract from the actual coin.

all he needs is hearts, stars and squiggles and it would be a perfect piece of art. if he did that, i'd offer him $5 for the 2x2 just for the excitement and his trouble and let him keep the coin.

I'm very skeptical about this coin, too. A coin that nice should be certified by now, I would think. Lack of certification of that coin speaks volumes. Someone should ask the seller to guarantee authenticity or guarantee it would holder at one of the big 4 grading companies. I doubt the seller would agree.
